Moderato From Three Pieces For String Quartet By Thomas R. Schadl

Moderato From Three Pieces For String Quartet is based on the motive B G# A C, that is transformed rhythmically. The work is a study on how the music starts with ambiguous tonality ends in the key of F Major.

Adagio From Three Pieces For String Quartet By Thomas R. Schadl

Adagio From Three Pieces For String Quartet, like the Moderato From Three Pieces For String Quartet is based on B G# A C melodic configuration, the motive that unifies the three pieces. The piece is fugal in idiom, and may be performed for recitals, and may be used for studying contrapuntal forms.

Finale From Three Pieces For String Quartet By Thomas R. Schadl

The Finale From Three Pieces For String Quartet, like the Moderato and Adagio versions, consists of B G# A C theme, the motive that unifies the three pieces. In addition, the middle section includes D E flat C B motive that signifies the signature of Dmitri Shostakovich, and B flat A C B that represents BACH. Both motives are treated contrapuntally. This work is suitable for recital, as well as educational use that stresses on contrapuntal treatment of motives and the resolution of ambiguous tonality to the key of E Major.
